LaLa’s Story: A Legacy of Love, Faith, and Awareness

Jacqueline “LaLa” Rhone was more than a name. She was a force of love, faith, and inspiration.

As an ordained minister and a devoted school counselor, LaLa dedicated her life to uplifting others. She guided students with compassion, counseled with wisdom, and walked in purpose every day. She had recently been accepted into a doctorate program and was preparing to take her commitment to education and service even further.

Each morning, LaLa sent messages of encouragement to her circle. She reminded those around her of their strength, their purpose, and their power to overcome. She loved to travel, to laugh, and to live boldly. Her bond with her grandmother was deeply rooted and unbreakable.

On May 7, 2024, LaLa woke up completely deaf and unable to stand. Her symptoms were sudden and severe. In the months before, she had visited multiple doctors for vision changes, numbness, and weakness. Each time, her concerns were dismissed.

On May 9, a massive brain aneurysm ruptured. The doctors later said it was the largest they had ever seen. For ten days, LaLa remained in a coma while her family prayed for a miracle. On May 19, surrounded by love, she was removed from life support at 3:33 p.m. She was 39 years old.

LaLa’s story should never be anyone’s story. Yet far too many lives are lost every year because brain aneurysm symptoms are overlooked or misunderstood.

LaLa Speaks Foundation was created to make sure that never happens again.

We exist to honor LaLa’s memory through action, advocacy, and awareness. We are here to speak for those who can’t, to amplify voices that go unheard, and to push for meaningful change in the way brain aneurysms are detected and treated.
